Working The Angle; Glass Cane Pattern Bars, PDF

$28

In this e-book I offer step by step instructions for 13 fused glass pattern bar designs that combine sheet glass and vitrigraph cane cast in a triangular mold. This book features projects that form medallions and repeating linked patterns which can be slumped into a dish or displayed as an art panel. Project 4 is a drop vase and includes all the steps including removing the rim and finishing the edge. If you don't have a vitrigraph kiln to make the cane, kits are available from The Murrini Man at www.etsy.com/shop/murriniman for each project. There are 127 pages and hundreds of photos detailing every step from loading the mold to slumping in an easy to follow format. Even if you are new to fused glass you can make these designs. To complete the patterns you will need a kiln, a triangular mold and wet saw to cut the glass pattern bars into slices. If you don't have a wet saw they can be rented for a minimal fee from local hardware or ceramic shops. Many of the molds are readily available and instructions are included on how to make a mold with basic materials at very little cost. Along with the patterns I've also included tips and techniques for using a wet saw as well as all the necessary firing schedules for the patterns and to make the cane. There are schedules for both System 96 and Bullseye glass in Fahrenheit and Celcius. For those who pull their own cane pictures of the stacks and information on the setup is also included.
